Learning, Earning and Yearning

“There are three ingredients in the good life: learning, earning and yearning.

Table tennis is more than just a sport; it's a passion that ignites the soul. It's a game that demands both physical and mental strength, and once you get hooked, you'll never want to stop playing. The sound of the ball pounding on your racket when you hit that winning drive, the adrenaline rush you feel when you make a perfect shot, and the satisfaction of knowing you're improving with each game - these are just a few of the reasons why table tennis is so addictive.

As you step onto the court, you feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. Your hands feel cold and sweaty, and your heart races with anticipation. You take a deep breath, and suddenly, the world around you fades away as you focus on the game. You watch the ball as it bounces back and forth across the table, and you wait for the perfect moment to strike. And when you do, you feel a sense of accomplishment that's hard to describe.

Table tennis is a sport that requires a great deal of skill. It's not just about hitting the ball back and forth; it's about stamina, flexibility, power, speed, and agility. It's about perfecting your technique, learning new strategies, and evolving with the sport. It's a game that demands your full attention and rewards your hard work.

This sport requires a great deal of skill. Give a kid a basketball, and they'll start dribbling and shooting with ease. But with table tennis, stamina, flexibility, power, speed, and agility all play essential roles in developing a professional player. Richard Mcaffe's article, "Junior Progressions, 100 Steps to Excellence," outlines the nine stages of development that aspiring athletes go through:

  • Basic Stroke Technique (Age 7 and under)
  • Basic Stroke Combinations (Age 8)
  • The 5-Point System (Ages 9 and 10)
  • Style Awareness (Age 11)
  • Advanced Stroke Techniques (Age 12 and 13)
  • Advanced Stroke Combination (Ages 14 to 16)
  • Self Awareness (Age 16)
  • Refining Style (Age 17)
  • Full Awareness (Age 18)

But table tennis is more than just a game. It's a community of passionate players who share a love for the sport. It's a place where you can make new friends, learn from experienced players, and challenge yourself to be better. It's a sport that brings people together, regardless of age, gender, or background.

When you're playing table tennis, you forget about the outside world. You forget about your problems, your worries, and your fears. You're fully immersed in the game, and nothing else matters. It's a form of meditation, a way to release stress and tension, and a way to connect with others who share your passion.

Table tennis is a sport that never gets old. Even after years of playing, you'll still find new challenges and opportunities to improve. You'll discover new techniques, new strategies, and new ways to connect with others. And as you continue to play, you'll realize that table tennis is more than just a game - it's a way of life.

So, if you're looking for a sport that will ignite your passion, challenge your skills, and bring you closer to others, look no further than table tennis. It's a game that will change your life in ways you never thought possible. So pick up a racket, step onto the court, and let the game begin.

Olongapo City Pongers

February 16, 2012 Who said only La Union has both bowling lanes and table tennis playing area? Crystal Lanes in Olongapo houses probably most of Gapo’s best table tennis players.  It is in here I have found friends and several other players who spent liters of sweat to train and meet other players. Emer their in-house Coach/Trainor told me that they are housing strong players here and strong drinkers alike. While I was bursting in laughter I felt how deep friendship was with these enthusiasts and athletes.  It is in this place I saw bi-talented individuals (playing table tennis and bowling at the same time).  The place comes alive right after school or office hours. Players from different schools and industries come here to either release stress or develop their talents.  Though the place can get a bit crowded when there are bowling players and visitors but no one can stop you from enjoying the sport you have always loved. Anyway be it a small place or not, a tabl

Finally I Got to Visit Amoranto!

What could be better than waking up early on a lazy Saturday morning, meet with your buddies and play table tennis in Amoranto QC?! I've been in Amoranto several times and my last visit was maybe a year ago. It was all better and wider now with lots of new tables and of course great players to play with. I've been here several times. Amoranto has always been an Icon, a common place you would hear from newbies and professionals. Ting Ledesma and Ms.Jojo plays here regularly. Too bad I did not get any chance to meet them. But I did found some of the regulars like the dashing debonair Coach Marquez with his trainee in action. I had a few chats with other fellow players and as usual I was so hooked in playing I forgot to take more photos and take down notes. Now I'm having a hard time recalling everyone of them.
